A 15 Year Career of International TeachingAntoine Revoy has taught at the Rhode Island School of Design ("RISD") for 15 years, and has twice been nominated for the schoolfs John R. Frazier Award for Excellence in Teaching, in 2015 and 2017. During this time, he holds the RISD Illustration department's record for supervising the most Independent Study Projects, as well as for being chosen to serve as a Brown University/RISD Dual-Degree capstone advisor.Revoy has created many of the schoolfs visual storytelling courses—The Graphic Novel, The Changing Narrative and the retitled Comics, Manga and Bandes Dessinées course. As one of the rare working professional artists in the RISD Illustration Department, he has been instrumental in connecting the school with comics publishers, taking the initiative of spearheading and organizing the campus visits of First Second Books, Random House Graphic, PEOW, and Webtoons. Outside of RISD, Revoy has instructed month-long college courses in China (Beijing) and Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Niigata), provided pro bono summer instruction to high school students during the Covid-19 pandemic, and taught professional illustration workshops for the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). |
Student AwardsRevoy's students have won Eisner, Weekly Shōnen Jump, and Fulbright scholarships. In 2019, he was the illustration teacher in America with the most student winning pieces in the Society of Illustrators' Scholarship Competition. He has mentored students who have become professional graphic novelists and comics creators for DC Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Image Comics, Marvel and VIZ Media.Graduate School and Masters ProgramsRevoy is an MFA thesis advisor at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and has lectured at the University of Hartford's MFA in Illustration program.
